13 -angle o corner?-
Nota d'usoI sostantivi angle e corner significano entrambi “angolo”, ma angle è usato solo in geometria. Pertanto, per riferirsi all'angolo di un tavolo, di una pagina, tra due strade ecc. si usa la parola corner: There's a chair in the corner, c'è una sedia lì nell'angolo (non There's a chair in the angle). -
14 -behind the corner o round the corner?-
Nota d'usoL'espressione “dietro l'angolo” non va tradotta letteralmente con behind the corner. La preposizione corretta da usare è round (o around): I parked just round the corner, ho parcheggiato proprio dietro l'angolo. Inoltre, spesso questa espressione inglese indica semplicemente un luogo nelle vicinanze, anche se non c'è nessun “angolo”.English-Italian dictionary > -behind the corner o round the corner?-
